The Me I Wish to Know.

The Me I Wish to Know.

A Poem by Kay Salisu Titilola
"

....

"
Every second kills the second that fathered him,
dragging humanity forcefully into a foggy dream,
I know who I was, I know who I am,
Who I am to be in the next second lies ahead of me.

Though, he is who to come but already in memory,
I keep struggling all day to see him comes to reality.
Here I am hustling, facing challenges and difficulties,
not for the man writing this but for him who I am to be.

Like an artist in my hand lies the chisel of my life,
giving to me to carve the statue of that me I desire.
Though, I never knew him but he's there looking at me,
believing that someday, he's going to be a better me.

Thank you so much for understanding this, HungryGhost.
I really appreciate.
The sense of becoming is something you don’t always read about or hear about, but it’s as important as the sense of belonging to our development as people. And here we have one Me who humbly expresses true admiration for the Other Me, the one he will become.

I don’t know about you, but I think the first Me’s a pretty good guy to begin with!!!:):)

This piece is lovely!!!

Thank you so much, Dhara.
This is an inspiring message, Kay. It shows not only a great sense of self-awareness, but also an understanding of what it takes to become what we desire to be.

The sense of being able to be the master of one’s own destiny—the metaphorical sculptor of our own future—I really appreciate this idea and the potential it attribute to the individual.

I really find this poem uplifting. It’s a bit of a rallying cry for the individual to seek out his best self starting now. Great work.

We all strive to be the best we can be. The concept of carving a statue of our future selves is unique and so well expressed here. I liked this a lot. Lydi**

Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Lydia.
Kay, I admire the sincerity and humility you express in this poem. Constantly striving to become a better human is an aspiration we share. I think the best of us know they can be a better version of him/herself (not imitate others). And, growth happens in the pursuit, and that’s what shines through in this poem. Another good write.
