Building A Brother

And from a clear moment of haze

I had found a yearning never before tapped

By my curious mind.

 

And from those clouds of unconsciousness

Came a world that would have never

Been there.

 

The pillars rose holding the sky of my imagination

They were barriers keeping the cold at bay

Rays of soothing light began creating my desire

They sculpted the life I so wanted to hold

 

And he came to me running with pain

Trusting I would be there for him and

Make it all go away.

 

And I told him how things were and

How they could eventually be if he listened

To his heart and to me.

 

The trip we take together, fixing

Our flights in knowledge of the love we share

And compassionate time will unfurl our sentiments

For another, giving us its blessing and strength

 

And I face down in the mud, fallen out,

Am lifted by him and with a smile

Told it's okay

 

And he leads me as I led him

Back to the path paved

By the breeze

 

We can stand together

I am no longer alone

No longer alone

Their generous ward breaks and 

I am bitten by the cold, realizing now

That my blueprints will never be fulfilled,

As these pillars crumble and die

 

Building a brother on this day,

Calling to the moon for an answer,

Will only cause hot tears to steam

In the frost of my lonliness.
