The Flight

The Flight

A Poem by KitSydney
"

Suicide's a breakneck game-over. For though you hadn't committed it literally, you know you already did figuratively. And that made all the difference.

"
The night wasn't still
with the crickets chirping,
wandering in someone else's dream.

Rough wind blew,
and he heard something tossed,
but soft enough to keep his eyes closed.

The bliss of the bushes
pulled him out from drifting
in his own private haze.

Vastness above,
where countless fairies flickered,
made him smile and cry.

Wildness below
welcomed him on board
his boundless pool of reflection.

And he
took
the flight.

At first the reader might assume that this character is familiar with this type of lonesome nighttime scene, but then the marvelous line of "wandering in someone else's dream" changes the entire thought. I really liked that. It gave this poem a whole new sense of strangeness and a different level of insight. This is very good. I love night-inspired writings like this; keep it up!
