Once You Were Not Alone

Once You Were Not Alone

A Poem by BlackLace

Walk alone in and unforgiving world,
By yourself feel the caress of the shadows.
A black ink staining your skin.

Look upward and dream,
For once there was a sun...
A promise for a new day and beginning,
Hope for a better tomorrow.

Oh, what a smile that sun could bring!
And what warmth filled your heart.

But now there is no sun.
Just a fog settling over this hillside,
A thick quilt, giving no warmth.

Close your eyes and breathe in,
Let the chill of a Lonely world enter your lungs.

And as you continue your walk amongst the rested,
The steady wind in the trees sings a melody
To your aching heart.

Beautiful message there and you wrote it awesomely. You portrayed the sun as what it really is, a life sustainer.
Well done, friend.

You are a amazing writer. So many strong emotions and thoughts in the poem.
"Oh, what a smile that sun could bring!
And what warmth filled your heart. "
The above lines stood out to me. Sometime a kind words or smile can make us feel better and stronger. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Thank you. :)
You write as though you know me..have we met?
Your lament is my lament...I guess I'm not invisible.
You wrote this well..I could feel it..so familiar.
I needed another look.

:) thank you so much Scott.
I love how you started off sad, then reflected on some light-filled things, making our hearts fill with hope and then ended with sadness. We can't always expect for life to be happy or that we will see the light all the time to guide us. We have to find our own path sometimes, search for and find our own light. It seems that only our dreams carry happy endings now, if not even them.

Sadness..acceptance into darkness..broken hearts..

Enjoyed your torment...
