Books and Bikes

Books and Bikes

A Poem by Kris Merrells

A thought had occurred to me

Perhaps I have too much money

This is, of course, an absurd thought

I have very little of it at all

I regularly go for days on end

With none whatsoever

But wouldn’t it be nice?

To have too much money

I could spend it on a bicycle built for two

What a lark. What a waste.

If there is a thing I could need less

Than a bicycle built for two

I am not inclined to think of it

Lest I ruin the thought

I could buy one

Put it in the garage

Build a shelf over it

And fill it with books

I have already bought for children

I will never have

A monument

To the life I never had

But always wanted

About
It has been nearly three years since I have abandoned the status quo in search of a life that meant something. I always try to imagine what I would think of my life, if I were 100 years old, looking .. more..
