Round and Round...

Round and Round...

A Poem by Kris Merrells

The sight of a bus fills me with dread

The feeling of having to be somewhere

And not being there yet

On the move

But nothing happening

Purgatory on wheels

Going to work

Not wanting to

Leaving work

Tired

A long day

Ahead

Another day of my life

Over

The collective ‘blah’

Dozens of people

Nothing to do but think

Just long enough to dwell

Not long enough to resolve

People up way too early

People smelling of liquor and beer

People too good to be there

People too intoxicated to know where they are

Always moving

Going nowhere

I think the grinding routine you speak of can slow one down so much they're forced to watch the mundane, banal scenario's play out every day ad nauseum with no apparent benefit to anyone. I like the formatting of the stanzas and lines as well as the general way you worded the lines and got your message across.
