Unproven myth

Just as I felt all hope was lost,
My soul was concaving,
And I no longer believed something so strong could ever be real..
A man took me by the hand
He took me by surprise.

Light touch and a soft voice,
Entrusting my heart into his promises..
His words so smooth, leading me to believe that maybe it was real;
That strong feeling that everyone believed in.

Let go. So I let go.
Fell through the deepness of his words into the shallows of something I thought was perfection.
Something I thought was real.

But touch can harden, and a voice can fade.
And the strike you feel across your cheek is the proof.
The proof that the feeling you yearn for, that one they speak of..
Is only a myth yet to be proven.
