What's Goin' On?

Why did you bother?
Why did you even try?
Why did you talk to me
When all you said were lies?
I know you didn't mean
Any of the words you spoke.
Was it all supposed to be
Some kind of practical joke?
You said that you don't
Love me anymore,
That you can't care for me
Like you did before.
Why did you cry?
What's goin' on?
Why did you say
That I have to be strong?
I'm goin' crazy,
Right out of my mind.
On Monday, I'll go back
To the same old grind.
Everyday life
Is killin' me.
My wings aren't clipped.
I've been set free.
You know I can't
Be that strong.
So, Baby, please tell me
Just what's goin' on.

Please bear in mind that this poem was written when I was only 14, and going through a rather nasty break-up.

It does matter what age a person breaks up with someone ...heartbreak is heartbreak and it's painful. You penned your words well expressing your pain at 14. I think you did a fine job., it was a pleasure to read ,and I thank you for sharing it.

Oh! Well, I really liked it. From the first word to the last, it has all the intense emotions that one feels after a break-up. Not that I'm saying from expreience...lol.
It's a good piece. One can read it again and again...^_^
