The Price I Paid

The Price I Paid

A Poem by Irresistaby Irish
"

Written May 25, 1999 - This poem is very very personal, and deals with a very traumatic event in my life.

"

Love is happy,
Though love is blind.
Spirits look for love,
But love they can't find.
My life is gone.
My heart has died.
My strength was spent,
My courage tired.
Time has warped
A heart of gold.
Made it stop,
And let it grow cold.
I am a cold dead corpse,
Wanting flowers for my silent grave.
Looking back and remembering when
My love brought on his rage.
Beaten and bloody,
I toppled and fell,
Bruised and broken,
To a dismal hell.
He didn't really love me.
I am eternally gone.
I can't remember love's touch.
It's been far too long.
But every night,
He weeps upon my grave,
Screaming that he's sorry
For the price I paid.

I am glad that you wrote this piece because there are many people who have gone through what you have writen in this piece. It was very sad, yet it gets to the point about the raw emotion that those who are abused feel. Abuse is not something to be taken lightly, it is a permanent scar that never fades. One can forgive but never ever forget....Great Job, thanks for highlighting and writing this tragedy.
