Life and All Its Actors

Life and All Its Actors

A Poem by Daniel Fletcher
"

Of course, we all see people as we go about our days. But I guess I never truly know who they are.

"
I wander through the facets of the day,
As life and all its actors find my eye.
But as I watch the parts the players play,
I know they all are more than I descry.
For surfaces are not a telling gauge;
Appearances take pride misleading all.
Beneath the calmest face, a war may rage;
Deep flowing joy can reach one standing small.
And since these roaring seas of mighty thought
Might reign, unknown to all, inside a mind,
I am, in curiosity, besot
With every person I've not yet defined.
For even so-called boring people hold
Inside their minds, a world uniquely bold.
