The Last Word

The Last Word

A Poem by Legion
"

Conflicts never resolve as long as one side always wants the last word.

"

The Last Word

We have yet to comprehend

that which divides us.

We find ourselves on equal footing,

but, yet, on seperate ground.

No hand stretched out

to give guidance or support.

No pause to listen,

only a continous flow of self-righteous thought.

Nothing understood outside

the ambiguity of our own ambition.

Right.

Wrong.

Things irrelevant when one must have

The last word.

Great stuff. I think we can all relate as being on one side of this or the other. I guess I experienced my own maturation in that category at the hands of several Drill Instructors. Sometimes it really doesn't matter if you're right or wrong or even if you can win the argument - it's what the effort will cost you that matters. I've been so right that I lost friends over it in the past. You hit all the right notes in this orchestration my friend - well done.

I have always found that the best counter to a person who needs to have the last word is a shrug, a smile, that hesitation that you might say something, and followed by an exquisite nothing. They will ask, "What?" You will give naught...

Great message portrayed in this poem. I used to always have to be the one who was "right" and always had to have the last word. One of the best lessons I have ever learned in my life was letting go of all that. I mean really, who gives a s**t if you are right when it divides and alienates. Now I am so much more accepting and a whole lot happier. Really enjoyed this. (okay, no more reviews today, my other friends are going to get jealous, then I will have to write a poem about that. LOL)

Seriously, I really like the subjects you write about as well as the way you write. You have a wonderful gift. Thanks for sharing.

I have tears. The misconnection, words miscontrued, not heard, not even comprehended. It's just a shame. It is very much like Sirens Wail, my piece. I thank you for pointing this out to share. It is heartfelt. Sad. It's not even about the argument really, it's just mismanagement of communication by both parties. Such a great piece.

It's really good. I like it. Your wording is interesting and shows a lot of intelligence, and it's definitely something people can relate to. I know I can.
