Corn Field

Corn Field

A Poem by Leigh

I am in love with the girl with the golden hair

She runs like a child in the fields

Her hair flows so free

Like a sea of corn behind her

Once she said “Come now and chase me”

And we ran through the path she wove

And very soon I held her near

In the middle of a sudden cloudburst

She flushed deepest rose as we pressed together

Hiding from the sudden torrent

But did it rain just then? I couldn’t tell

I was blocked by the landscape of her

Very powerfully poignant and sweetly romantic!

I wish it was longer. Beautiful to read.

Whoa. So good! I know this all encompassing feeling.

I love - “And we ran through the path she wove”. It conveys the willingness to follow, which in new love borders insanity and in old love shows fortitude. I connected deeply here. Well put.

And obviously the whole last stanza is incredible.

i really like the wording, imagery and deep feeling woven into this. the flow is gentle yet telling. the comparison of her hair to "a sea of corn" is brilliant. bravo for a not easily forgotten write ... :)

It's just a guess, but I think you might be that girl with golden hair.

She is beautiful indeed and I love the description of her. She seems to be vision enough for the poet. No other vista needed. A great poem to read!
