The Street of Nine Lanterns

The Street of Nine Lanterns

A Poem by Leo

The Street of the Nine Lanterns

I.

Between The Street of the Hungry Dogs
And the Street of the Sweet Breezes
Lies the Street of the Nine Lanterns
Only in extraordinary conditions

When The Sun makes love with the Moon
And the darkness is absolute
The Animals of the Zodiac dance in this street

A pagan pageant
Pulsating flesh feast
Moving music bodies
 Serpents intertwining

In the day it´s an ordinary street
Two blocks long
Sun shining on pavement
Nothing special
Except for the nine Chinese lanterns
Hanging high
Out of reach

II.

the street of nine lanterns
nine chinese lanterns
9
she left her jeans there
lying on the sidewalk
and a carton of eggs
he pictured her
her legs    without jeans
dancing in the street
that night
when the moon hid
in the shadow of the earth
and the stars came down
dancing
was he there?
he couldn´t remember
but here    her jeans
on a hot sunny day
in the street of 9 lanterns
deserted    except for her jeans
and those eggs

III.

9 dragons
flying upward
towards heaven
the rain
at last
now
there is a river
in the street of the 9 lanterns
it takes me to the sea
the birthplace
of the
9
