The Night The Moon Got Stolen

The Night The Moon Got Stolen

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

moonday, maybe

"
In the night the moon got stolen
lunatics shook their fists at empty heavens,
cats stared at holes in the dark night and
seas turned into lakes, tides refused,

And songwriters hit the wrong keys
while lovers went home for an early night,
words were not whispered in ears nor
arms thrown across shoulders in first joy,

Have no fear for this lost face in the sky,
the lady that shimmers over standing water,
Aurora will bring the slow return of dawn,
Libertas will free this stolen moonlight.

A rather humorous, thoroughly entertaining poetic account of the inexplicable abduction of a vital heavenly body.
We will, as Leslie suggests, trust Libertas to make things right--in the meantime, we must make every effort to avoid mooning over the problem.

Those who love the night aren't too pleased when the day arrives. But the night will always return. A very imaginative poem. I enjoyed reading it.

I love this, it's fresh and creative. Imagining the moon missing and its consequences is well done!

Very enjoyable poem. Shows how important the moon is.
I like the style you wrote this in.

There is magic in the air, and the moon's amiss in your dark lit scene that dances across fable and fantasy... stirs the heart and mind to sense the disappearance... Made me wonder too how many in this day would look up and miss her... I can only hope.
