Agrippina`s Ghost

Agrippina`s Ghost

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

as it is

"
dog-eyed shape of ash
         an owl leaving
         the cool firs,

shadow of shadow ;
          floorboards creaking,
          a curtain`s slight dance

black and white as my own;
          standing in frills in a snap
          in front of a Ford Prefect
          with Dad before the war.

i like how subtle movements instead of cliched dramatic ones reflect a sense of hauntedness

You write about all the feelings of memories in just these well chosen words. These are words that are worth a thousand pictures.

A poem with the feel of shadows past, a haunting quality. All the images point to this, especially the l last, the photograph of times past. A very moving poem, I really like your poems and your style.

This is full of unique images, outstanding images. It has a sort of sad haunting feel to it. Your poetry is always strong, and all your own.

An old black and white picture, dad going off to war, memories brought back to life just looking through a picture album. Valentine

an owl (the silent hunter of the night) an ash and fir to waking in the middle of night in my own bedroom to unknown disturbing sounds..to memories of our warrior Dads .. very much enjoy reading this .. so read it thrice ;) i have a pic of my Dad, tall and think as a stick, in his uniform, foot up on the bumper of an old coup, with my Mom ... sure miss them ... a very fine tribute ...
