Been here before 

And I know what to do 

Maintain focus 

And push my way through 

Steer clear of the nonsense 

That has nothing to do 

With what I came for 

The absolute truth 

 

Shake off the negative 

I can not be bound 

Feelings detached 

And buried in the ground 

Welcome the hate 

And let it surround 

Then rob it of oxygen 

And force it to drown 

 

My confidence rating 

Is satellite high 

Consciously creating 

A dynamically fly 

Carefully cautious 

And scarcely awry 

Meticulous monster 

I am alive 

 

Sift through the bullshit 

Sort out the lies 

Expose everything 

That has been disguised 

Remove any masks 

And research the eyes 

Discover what's possibly 

Hidden inside 

 

Might be down deep 

So get you a shovel 

Try not to get buried 

Beneath all the rubble 

Examine each piece 

As you carefully seek 

Some semblance of candor 

To anchor for peace 

 

Now climb right back out 

And head for the surface 

To shed you some light 

On your intentions and purpose 

Gather your evidence 

No need for rehearsing 

No watered down version 

Confront them in person 

 

Expect some evasion 

Attempts at persuasion 

Some subject changing 

And possible framing 

Anyone else naming 

Everyone else blaming 

See how they behaving

Wow! Sounds you like you had an epiphany in this and recognized that things were not as you thought they were. This is something that reasonates because I think it's something that we can all relate to. We all believe that that drank, that cigarette, that chocolate, whatever can make it all better. I'm currently in the process of challenging some of my beliefs and habits so this gave me a new perspective on it. Well done- I loved this piece!
