When Childhood Would Last Forever

best song I've written in a while

When Childhood Would Last Forever

When we were just five years old

We carried the world in our hands

Nothing left to figure out

Nothing left to understand

Everything made sense back then

But then the universe spun suddenly

And our hearts broke apart

With reality slapping our faces

We were left right back at the start

What happened to all of our innocent works of art

You’ll never have friends

Like the ones when you were five

When your naivety wasn’t yet

Stabbed through with a jagged knife

When decisions weren’t a puzzle missing every piece

When you were the master in life

Not one grey teardrop spilling from your eye

Everything either black or white

When you knew everything every day and night

You’ll remember they’re names

Even if they’re smile blurs and fades

The playground wars, the cookie parties

All of the memories that you made

When the real world had no hold on you

And your friends swore they’d stay

Never knowing how far apart you grew

With every aging day

You’ll never have friends

Like the ones when you were five

When your naivety wasn’t yet

Stabbed through with a jagged knife

When decisions weren’t a puzzle missing every piece

When you were the master in life

Not one grey teardrop spilling from your eye

Everything either black or white

When you knew everything every day and night

So take one day to reminisce

When you were five years old

Remember when you thought you were made of gold

When your mom and dad were king and queen

And you were a princess in your kingdom home

When childhood would last forever

And your toys came to life

When right and wrong were for the better

And Santa Claus was real with all your might

You’ll never have friends

Like the ones when you were five

When your naivety wasn’t yet

Stabbed through with a jagged knife

When decisions weren’t a puzzle missing every piece

When you were the master in life

Not one grey teardrop spilling from your eye

Everything either black or white

When you knew everything every day and night

Its hard to let go of the past sometimes and honestly life was so much easier as a five year old! Great job :)

Beautiful. Simply beautiful.

A lot f people would probably say they can relate with the theme of this song.

Great lyrics that kind of already sounds and sings in my ears while I was reading this.

It's a bit sad but certainly opens you up to realizations.
It's true that everything changes once you grow up.
And some of us wish that we could go back to those years when the world was still black and white, our job was to play and we never had to worry about what was going to happen tomorrow or what already happened yesterday.

Good job on this one. ^_^

Don't mention it. :)
Great lyrics! Each verse rings so true... The purity and naivety of the young, so short lived when in those moments childhood felt like it would last forever. I would love to hear it sung!
