"Home Is Where the Heart Is."

"Home Is Where the Heart Is."

A Poem by Christine

They say that Home is where the Heart is.

Well my home has always been here.

Yet whenever I fathom where I want to escape to for the future,

Its anywhere but here.

Because, truly, what goes on here?

There is nothing.

Yet I can't imagine leaving.

Not yet, anyway.

I couldn't move to an unknown city,

Far away from everything I've always known.

Not when everything is starting to go right.

My friends are here.

My school is here.

These relationships that I've built,

Friendship I've endured,

I won't let them go now.

They can't take that away from me now.

These things are so easily broken,

But take years to build.

I refuse to leave my hard work behind.

I refuse to abandon what I have here.

They can move, and even take me with.

But I won't really be going.

My heart is here, in Kenosha.

And it will always be my home.

This poem I wrote for class, but it really brings out what I feel about the possibility of moving for my father's job. Read with a critic's eye, please.

They say that Home is where the Heart is.
Well my home has always been here.
Yet whenever I fathom where I want to escape to for the future,
Its anywhere but here.
Because, truely, what goes on here?
There is nothing.
Yet I can't imagine leaving.
Not yet, anyway.

That's an awesome piece of poetry. My critic's eye wants to tell you that you have spelled the word truly wrong in the fifth line. But aside from that, I see nothing wrong and nothing that you should change. I love the first lines I've put into my review, because it can mean so much more than where you are living. I see love, but I always see love. I am a sap. But I liked this poem quite a bit. I know what it is like to not want to leave home, and that your heart will always be there. My heart is still back in my home state, and I get it. The poem illustrates that well. Nice job for sure.
