The Silence of My Heart

The Silence of My Heart

A Poem by Loribeth215
"

For the Power of Words Contest

"

The anger between us

(this deeper silence of my heart)

is as empty, as wide

as the black chasm of the night sky

the abhorrence

of your words

of these arguments

(words can tear as efficiently as any knife)

argument is a war without bullets

that respects no borders;

and my defenses

only stretches the space between us further

I want

to see the break

of twilight, across the sky

still the anger, restore my breath

bring some solace

bring some serenity

(to this deepest silence of my heart).

"still the anger, restore my breath" oh i loved this poem, & how i can relate to every word. anger can create a wall of its own between 2 people & even when they are not arguing or fighting, its still there. & words do cut so much deeper than any knife, they replay over & over in your mind, that sometimes it seems as if the anger will never go away. i love the entire last stanza, longing for an end to this anger & arguing. such an emotional, deep poem. going in my favorites.
