Earthly Things Such As-

Earthly Things Such As-

A Poem by CatOfOrion

there's a black slump
defeated in a broken, backless chair.
bone dry bottles lay at their feet,
labels torn off, leave no trace-
trying to hide the shame-
keep their weakness tucked away.
stark black room,
illuminated by only a lamp
at the far side of the space.
far away from the figure.
flickering,
it's about to die.
strobe light effects making
it seem darker yet.
they raise their eyes from the floor
just in time to see
their world completely vanish.
