Sunlight Sweetie

Sunlight Sweetie

A Poem by Lucas Alton
"

I like to get the inspiration for a lot of my poems from the people I spend most of my time around. There's just something about writing about those closest to me that feels genuine.

"
Her brunette hair tossed by the breeze
the sky is clear
her eyes are green
the summer heat is beating down
because of her
I never frown
her laugh is like an angel's song
her skin as smooth as water
I covet her above all else
to her my imprimatur
I wait for her with open arms
for the day she won't be scared
to love someone with all her heart
something she's never dared

I really like this. I think it is quite beautiful and sweet. To start with I actually thought this poem was an admiration for a friend but the last stanza (which I particularly like) changed my mind on this. Really lovely poem.
