Time Flies

Time Flies

A Poem by Chris

You learn to crawl, and then it’s a rush to walk/

You learn to walk, and then it’s a rush to talk/

You learn to talk, and then it’s a rush to tie your shoes/

You learn to tie your shoes, but yet that wasn’t enough for you/

You had to have more, you needed your license to drive/

You got your license, and rushed to get a D.U.I/

You go to school, and then it’s rush to graduate/

You graduate, and then it’s a rush to the commencement date/

You meet a girl, and rush to holy matrimony/

Never bother to enjoy the moment, find yourself rushing to be lonely/

You get a job, get fired, re-hired, and work your life away/

Rush rush rush, day after day after day/

You’ve rushed to your death, with no family or friends/

You’ve rushed to your last breath, and lived your life to the bitter end/

Life’s always a rush, how do you truly enjoy the moment/

When your souls dormant, and you’ve ended up as time’s servant/

It’s not your fault, for that’s all you ever knew/

Congratulations my friend, you’ve rushed life right through/

Brilliant. Absolutely amazing poem that very effectively conveys a common theme underpinning our hectic lives in this modern age. My only criticism would be the layout, which (I know this is me being pedantic) somewhat detracts from the flow and rhythm of the poem itself. Also, more care with the apostrophe would enhance the overall impact. Otherwise, the style, the sentiment, is absolutely perfect; I could not have expressed it any better.

Very well written. I liked the content.
It makes one ponder the idea, that after death, does time continue to fly?
