A Way Out

A Way Out

A Poem by Chris

It seems to me, a bad place to be/

So why can’t I just see/

That it’s too dark and scary, there’s too much guilt to carry/

And my problem seems evolutionary/

For I found my best friend, and my head pretends/

That my values don’t descend/

My friend is always there, and I am unaware/

Of this future nightmare/

Through the twists and turns, my family burns/

And I am not concerned/

For I am a slave, to my future I wave/

And accept an early grave/

In this dangerous game, there’s no one to blame/

Just pray and away goes the flames/

I really liked this, despite the subject matter. I would consider omitting the forward slashes as I think it would be easier to read without them. That is my personal opinion. Otherwise, a really good poem.
