Intoxicated Love

Intoxicated Love

A Poem by Luke Ritta
"

a poem about a first encounter.

"

Her golden hair

                     Smells of cinnamon.

I am transfixed by her soft skin.

She holds my hand.

                      Our fingers connect like

                     jigsaw pieces.

She whispers into my left ear,

her lime blossom perfume glides up my nose.

The crowded bar that we are in suddenly

burst into green flames. I see and hear

No one apart the women sitting in front of me.

I am inside a vacuum of a green haze,

                                            Surrounded by the aromas

                              Of lime blossom, cinnamon

and the sweet pungent feminine smell

                                                        Of a woman.

i really like "fingers connect like jigsaw puzzles"

that is wonderful...i like the entire mood of this piece...and there is such a beautiful truth in a first meeting with someone like this...the rest of the world just gets shut out...and she is the only thing we see, hear, feel...that is it.

nice scenario painted here...

This is sweet.
I loved how you described how you only saw you and her among a lot of people.
You described the feelings or thoughts very well :D
Great job!

This is just beautiful. Perfectly explains the thoughts that might go through one's head when you're with your lover. It really is a great feeling, you just forget the atmosphere and it's just you, and your love. Fully heartfelt, there's this serene feeling in your poetry...that lingers.
Uhh, and I think 4th stanza, last line, 'women' should be 'woman'? Is that what you intended? lol. Nevertheless, great job, keep writing.

Intoxicated love...I remember the feeling. Of course love does come in various forms and quantities, but regardless love is a treasured emotion that I think a lot of people overlook these days. And you write about it so well.

Beautiful. Your poem talks of that first 'intoxicated' impression and paints the picture vividly. Keep it up!

Ah, this is so, so lovely. I could imagine the scene as if it transpired before my eyes. Two lovers, contented with themselves, forgetting everything around them. Utterly romantic! ^_^

P.S. I think the last word should be "woman".
