Firing

No…it couldn’t be, I could never face death as surely as thee.
How to kill myself…please, tell me please!
A bullet to the brain? Saving my body from the glasses sharp pain?
Yes…yes! This must be the way; I may finally die here today!

This house…our bed…from them I have now fled.
The memories they have wrought, caused me far more pain than I had sought.
It was in this room I impregnated you, and now my unborn child is stolen too.
The love we made, the comfort you gave, are now impossible to save.
Remember when I bought that .45? To save us if the situation should arise?
That instrument designed to save our lives, will now be the one to take mine.

Death…sweet death…now you are mine, so I will take my life this final time.
This instrument of death kills at my demand, the trigger must be pulled by thy own hand.
The later cause of death is this tiny bullet, and I carefully slide one into it.
I spin the chamber, hell why not? Let’s have a little fun before I rot.
Smiling, I slide the barrel into my mouth, choking on tears and thinking of thou.
I become hysterical, thinking of you, and finally my time on earth is through.

Closing my eyes, stopping my breath, pulling the trigger that might bring death,
One clear click, a sigh escapes, 5 more to go and I will be on my way.
Click. My life’s still my own. 4 more shots until I pass into the great unknown.
Click. Beads of sweat roll down my face, 3 more chances to be held in death’s embrace
On the 4th pull, the canvas is painted red, my final thoughts there; not in my head
all thoughts of yore stopped in a moment, peace overwhelmed me-Nevermore.
