an obsession

an obsession

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

couldn't take my eyes off the blue eyes in the grocery store...heavy sigh

"

sounding like Friday night
looking like Saturday morning
a little bit
            exciting
more than a little bit
                      intimidating
a walking bowl of delicious
with cobalt blue eyes
can you hear the cacophony of an obsession forming?
there is but one certainty
my fingers will type you tonight

Love the last line. As blue is my favourite colour, I've always wanted blue eyes. But I'm stuck with dark green...maybe that's more reflective of my personality though haha I must have written a million of these poems over years of looking at people that I'll never know, leaving my imagination to fill in the blanks. A charming piece, with a bit of spice as well ;)

Your writing is direct, to the point, and powerfully expresses a lot with a little. I like it.

"Whoeve once said The Eyes Have it" certainly had the pulse of getting one's attention. The eyes are also the windows of the soul, right? Great Emphasis here.
Creative Treatment of Eyes---especially blue.
Old BLUE EYES himself ( singer Frank Sinatra) would be most proud!
Well done.

Oh man...I remember when I got obsessed with blue eyes after watching the lead actor in the Pride and prejudice movie. Those blue seemed to melt into everything around me. And to draw inspiration from a 'walking bowl of delicious'....one of the greatest pleasures of being a poet. ;) Keep those fingers tapping away...my friend. Luscious blue eyes of a poem here.
