I Write

I Write

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

A poem I wrote in 2005 for my book that was published that year. Figured it would be an appropriate repost for Poetry Month.

"
artwork by George Clausen

Positioning my heart

just perfectly

so that emotions

pour into

my well of ink

for only you….I write.

My emotions splattered

on the once naked page

are meant for you.

Will you caress

my words tonight

holding them in

private places

I will never dwell?

Read the words

let them dance

upon your tongue.

As they rest

in the curls

upon your chest

quench your thirsts

with them.

Listen to

my private whispers.

Allow my warm breath

to enter your soul

and simmer there

as double entendres

do dirty deeds

upon the page.

No, my darling,

you need not

question

t’is for you

I write.

this definitely simmers dear Lydia. Its so playful and classy not bawdy - I love the settling sincerity of the final stanza - one can imagine the speaker looking with almost tearful eyes - filled to the brim with pure love as the final lines are delivered. Simply sublime Lydia.

I love the premise of the artist capturing the artist - its mesmerising. Great picture choice.

Wunderbar ! (Haa - spellchecker asked me if I meant 'underwear' for that word lol)
:))

it still remains (writing) the most naked things a person can do. It bares your soul and heart
in a way that even a dark room or a long terry bathrobe cant cover. Jacob said it's much like
making love....I guess he's right...

lovely...dana

Indeed, a true poet bares her/his soul in every line...and in between the lines as well. Thank you .. read more

Indeed, John.....he was and always will be. Thank you. Lydi**
writing is much like making love...especially when we write for and about that special someone. it is our way as poets to communicate through our body, heart and soul...

we keep "doing those dirty deeds"
