who will notice?

who will notice?

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

off to a restless sleep

my poetry suspended in a teardrop

only to wake clutching a fragment of a dream

the rise and fall of my chest

matches the rhythm of the city

the dull ache in my heart is barely perceptible

like the slow hiss of steam from the pavement

the heated pulse of summer has arrived

yes, i’ll manage to limp over the emotional gaps in my life

but who will notice?

dear Lydi... Who will notice your limp...
Love is always an adventure over the
craggy shores of the ocean's storms.
The beauty of the sunrise will always
bring strength and renewal as seagulls
glide above with the promise of
eternal love. truly, Pat

These poetic vignettes of life are just as stirring as the more seductive ones you pen, Lydi. Beautiful artwork, as always!

" ... my poetry suspended in a teardrop ...". Such a melancholy write, yet still imbued with the beauty only a true poet could create. I have had a lot of sad write over the years and I hope you found this as cathartic as I do many of my sadder ones. ~Jim

"my poetry suspended in a teardrop" - even your saddest of poems are written with the beauty and elegance that is you Lydi.

The last line struck home for me for a number of reasons. I'm glad I read you today!

Hugs, Julie (limping along with you)

A sad poem to be sure, a brilliant juxtaposition next to your usual exotic breaths, relationships and blues, even the most in love will have blue days love the painting that goes with this beautiful rendition of a sad day in the world of bliss.

lol, pass them 'round please, a lovely pill of Prozac poetry .
You captured perfectly that desperate anxiety attack that sometimes happens randomly or upon waking.

I believe we must keep the energy of hope alive. Hard to depend on other folks. Thank you dear friend for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome Lydia.
We somehow always manage to limp over the emotional gaps, don't we? Perhaps others don't notice because they are too busy trying to limp over their own. I love the imagery of "poetry suspended in a teardrop." When released, I think these suspended poems are always some of the best.

I will Lydi for I too relate to this isolation. A lovely, sad and emotional piece in such a concise and well metered free verse.
