Oh What a Moment

Oh What a Moment

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by Barbara Rosenzweig courtesy of etsy.com

You drink in the sun
in small lingering sips
munch on dreams
translucent as the lazuline sea
clouds drift to distant realms
you tell me stories
intricate details
born in the sand castle
of your imagination
right now I believe
you might know more
about the world than I do
or ever will
you slow your pace to mine
we walk
oh what a moment
I kiss your rosy cheek
you taste of summer

dear Lydi... this is a precious poem...
children need time at the Beach with Sand Pails and
little waves of salt water to tickle their toes...
with Mother close by to kiss their rosy cheeks.
My most contented moments were being close
to warm sand and a cool breeze. truly, Pat

I love taking Grandchildren to the lake. To watch them content and having fun with the water and the warm day. Thank you Lydia for sharing the amazing poetry for Summer and love.

You are welcome Lydia.
Just a lovely, lovely poem.

'right now I believe

about the world than I do

I have given up trying to shake the smile from my face. Now I'm gonna be grinning all day long. This is just about as perfect as it gets and certainly consigned to my personal favourwrites.... Thank you Lydi, N

I love the line - you taste of summer. This reminds me of my daughter and summers at the beach - so very sweet Lydi - and the painting you chose to accompany your words is adorable.

If we could ever pause the stage of infancy for a bit longer, linger with them, see the world through them, and kiss the summer while it plays with us. What a bliss!!!
Little angels around us they are, reminding us of the secrets whispered from everything magically.
loved it!!

We love children because they remind us of our own innocence. A time of divinity when life was full of exciting possibilities and colour and smells and tastes for us to explore with abandon. You express these sentiments by describing it so. Your closing lines say it all Lydi as we all wish to return to the summers of out childhood.

Absolutely, John. Thanks for the review. Lydi**
You really painted a picture of love warmly love of nature and child likeness; knowing the world inwhich he/she has emerged. Well articulated.

I appreciate your review. Thank you! Lydi
Oh how I remember this one!! and again, i am left with warm, precious feelings. But this is not an ordinary poem about an ordinay day with your granddaughter at the beach. this runs so much deeper, especially with this line "right now I believe
you might know more
about the world than I do". this is so true, Lydi. children have a magical wisdom of their own, they have all the answers. that is until the outside world complicates things, trying to mold us into something we're not. you have captured a delicate, timeless moment with such love. an absolute pleasure to read!
