Oh What a Moment

Oh What a Moment

A Poem by Lydia Shutter

artwork by Barbara Rosenzweig courtesy of etsy.com

You drink in the sun
in small lingering sips
munch on dreams
translucent as the lazuline sea
clouds drift to distant realms
you tell me stories
intricate details
born in the sand castle
of your imagination
right now I believe
you might know more
about the world than I do
or ever will
you slow your pace to mine
we walk
oh what a moment
I kiss your rosy cheek
you taste of summer

dear Lydi... this is a precious poem...
children need time at the Beach with Sand Pails and
little waves of salt water to tickle their toes...
with Mother close by to kiss their rosy cheeks.
My most contented moments were being close
to warm sand and a cool breeze. truly, Pat

Thank you, Ken. Lydi**
what a heavenly moment Lydia! to walk alongside a child, listen to him/her tell stories as only they know how, look into their eyes and marvel at their purity and innocence.
of course you told it so much better.

' I kiss your rosy cheek .. .. .. you taste of summer '

Beautiful, positively beautiful.. There's something about a little child's vision that turns our tired, sad world into a playground of light. The picture is delightful, your font wonderfully appropriate, the gentleness of love behind your words is.. tear.making.

Love this, Lydi.. truly do. (You)

I can see that in every word you've written. She's obviously your honey love!.
"I kiss your rosy cheek
you taste of summer"

...this reminded me of the pieces you wrote of your son years ago. The poignancy of youth you describe touches this mother's heart, so deeply. Gorgeous presentation, Lydi!

Thanks so much, Rose. Glad I could teach you a new one! :) Lydi**
love this....there is nothing like sand castles of imagination...

and i do think kids may actually know more than we...perhaps they do know more about being honest and inquisitive...something we lose as we age....
