The night
expanded
to fit my container of emotions
I fell in love with
the sound
A breeze on its way to certain oblivion
ran through the folds of my skirt
I fell in love with
the feel
A trail of tears evaporated
and was quite impossible to follow home
I fell in love with
the sight
Words tumbled through my psyche
winning gold medals for my country
I locked the
container of my mind tightly
lest I be blinded by the melee
of excruciating humanness
There are so many ways your message states the most imaginative concepts, I'm without words to comment adequately. First, I love the way each of your stanzas highlights one of the physical senses. But the descriptions in the first two lines of each stanza defy expectation to the nth degree! Each part of your message summons a dozen ideas before landing on one that fits best.

the whole poem has imagery that sweeps me away to another world right here on earth. So thought provoking that line 'excruciating humanness', and how magical that world really is when you 'tumble through the psyche' of one human poetess. You clearly have a strong connection to your spirit. Unbelievable again Lydia. Your beauty shines through your poetry.

How kind of you, JesseRose. Thank you very much. Lydi**
sometimes Lydi, I look around and wonder, are we human? Is there "humaneness", can we truly rise above those "trail of tears" that just leave ruts on our cheeks and fill oceans? and then I read a poem that is both beautiful in its humanity and sad at the same time... and there is hope even in our "excruciating humanness" or maybe because of it... and we poets have a lot to say in this regard I think, as you are doing with your poem... your words took me in perhaps a different direction than you intended Lydi, but none the less it's a humannessly (is there such a words??) "nice" poem..

As humans, we feel in love with everything beautiful in our senses...even small things.
As a poet, I always fall in love with beautiful words, and beautiful pieces.
This is a beautiful piece. I love this!

Humanness can indeed be excruciating. Hanging on to little moments ... breezes, the smell of coffee ... those little things make humans bearable. Nicely done. ~Jim
