Time and regret

Life has no reset button

Father time is always going to be undefeated
A moment in the past can never be repeated.
You look back with regret at a certain choice,
And wish at the time you spoke with a wiser voice.

The regret is strong and the fear is real,
The lie is that a wound with time will heal.
Mentally or physically, it's remains in place,
Seen as clear as a scar on your very face.

I close my eyes and I peer into the past,
Hoping that one moment would forever last.
The memories are now part of my soul,
As precious to me as a dead sea scroll.

It's the one joy left after all these years,
The one moment to draw out some happy tears.
I save them and put all the teardrops in a jar,
To show that some happiness can be found in a scar.

Your poem reminded me of the saying, 'it is better to have loved and lost than never loved at all'. A poignant write that confirms happiness can be elusive. Conveyed well and enjoyed.

That's a good saying and a very true one, life is all about experiences, better to experience it, then to never know the feeling.
