Exiting darkness

Exiting darkness

A Poem by Lykos
"

To have hope is what keeps us moving

"
Your head is upside down with all your fears,
And your cheeks feel the bitter sting of painful tears.
Emotions race through you like a bullet train,
And you stand outside where tears can't be seen under a showery rain.

You try and look ahead but there's just a wall,
Any chance to get around it, the deeper you fall.
People have ups and downs, but me there's no up,
I feel like in my situation I'm in concrete, in place I'm stuck.

I thought I would be drowning forever in an endless night,
But in my darkness I saw a glimmer of light.
A hand reached down and pulled me out of the hole I was in,
Something I never saw, I never thought I would win.

A sunrise lit up my life and expelled all the dark,
And that sadness in me, completely disappeared without leaving a mark.
The struggle and pain is a distant memory with hardly any trace,
I wake up now and an almost constant smile is etched on my face.

"A hand reached down and pulled me out of the hole I was in"... In troubled times, this can come in many forms. Thank you for this piece!

When submerged in the darkness it seems never ending; a numbing void that is relentless.

When the darkness subsides and a hand pulls you free it’s an overwhelming experience to feel joy and laughter again.

This poem is very relatable and I love the imagery spoken in this piece.
