Set my voice free

Set my voice free

A Poem by Lykos

Do not weep for me as I lay underground,
And if you wish for my soul to be found,
Through your voice my soul will sound from the grave,
And it will echo out like a clap in a cave.

My words are what I leave behind,
A sliver of my soul and voice combined.
Here you can find where I still reside,
Maybe a piece of worth you will find.

A thousand years of rain couldn't match my tears of pain.
And all that sorrow continues like a runaway train.
Read each line and feel my emotions,
Some with worded tears to fill entire oceans.

It's impossible for anyone to contain the wrath,
Once you let it seep in, there's no turning back
My heart rips and my anguish is released,
Before the dotted line my anger is unleashed.

When I still breathed I filled words in pages
Something that will last and echo through the ages.
If you want to see and breathe life into me,
Then read my words and set my voice free.

One of the time enduring thoughts on writing poetry is that it allows our voice to arrive at the doorsteps of immortality. Something that will last is something worthing building our legacy. And in the reading this is realised, not as many hope, in the writing thereof. Thanks for sharing.

Relatable words. I would very much like my poetry to be read after my demise. There is a great deal of me and my emotions contained in my lines. I am hoping my grandchildren breath life into me again through my poetry. That's my legacy to them. Enjoyed the read.

Gee
I suppose that is the wish of all of us that write to have our words read, understood, and perhaps to be remembered for one of two writes, although it seems most poets become well known after they have popped their clogs :)
