On Sorrow and Grief

On Sorrow and Grief

A Poem by yuhee
"

When death unexpectedly took the one you love away from you

"
She did not cry nor wail
All she did was to smile
Before she said her final goodbye

But the facade soon broke
When her father is now six feet underfoot
Tears trail the contour of her cheeks
But her forlorn smile still remained

Despite I'm at her side, I did not talk
I let her engulf the silence she deserve
Then she asked how to move on
When everytime she closes her eyes
It's her father's beaming face flashed in her mind

My smile didn't reach my ears
Don't try, I slowly talked
Let time do that tiring trick
Don't rush to heal your wound when it's still bleed
Just continue to smile as what your father said
Live your life in content like what he did

She nodded and started praying
For her dearest father who finally found peace

Thank you very much.
I love the usage of wail and forlorn. Those words really describe sadness and pain. The emotion is there in the poem.

When it says at the end "For her dearest father who finally found peace" I was wondering how he died. An idea that came into my mind was cancer because sometimes when people have terminal cancer they suffer.

In the second stanza it sound awkward where it says "six feet underfoot" maybe just saying "six feet under"

I loved reading this. Great job.

Thanks for sparing a time reading this.
That's such a heart touching read! I've friends too who lost their fathers. It seems pretty hard on how best to console them because words simply can not fill the gap of this loss.

You conveyed this beautifully..
