Dead End StreetA Poem by MadeiraAs sunlight faded earth’s rich brocade, We followed the flight of the birds, Past the emerald forest now in shade, Our silence spoke a thousand words. We climbed up a ladder of blue cloud. To sit on a moon edged roof, Far away from the madding crowd. Hearts filled with vibrating truth. Our shadows danced in melodies of mist As we drifted through the circling
stars. Our souls tumbling, flying, when we kissed, For one night only heaven was ours. A moment that ought to last forever, Had come and gone before we knew, Hearts which opened like flowers in
spring, Destined to become covered with mildew. Then life jarred with it’s barks and
crows As the saffron sunrise filled the sky, We lingered with pearl drops in our
eyes, Lifting our hands to wave goodbye. Now we have become ash of the starlight, Corners of our dreams take us ever on
repeat To the falls and clouds of our
beginning, Where fate had chosen a dead end street. © 2018 MadeiraReviews
