Holding hands

Holding hands

A Poem by Madhusudha
"

a husband who has taken care of his wife, suddenly passes away, leaving her in the lurch

"
Never you fear, my dear
I will be there for you, I swear
His promise,she hugged to herself
Bathed in his care for her self
He was with her, every day
And for her, in every way
Left behind her friends
Her kith, her kind, she did
With she for him, he for her,
What need had they, for any other
Rushed home from work to her
They went together, wherever
No need she had, no care
Holding hands, a life to share
And then, one day, it came to pass
He fell sick, and came to pass
Shocked, alone, bereft
No word, no warning, he left
She could not see, could not be
Lone in this world, None had she
No one to do, no one to care
She has to learn, to live and fare.

The depth of pain and emptiness is a very trying time. A beautiful write of love lost and best friend.

These well-chosen, hard-hitting words describe something that happens often. When my younger brother died in his sleep at age 56, his wife and daughter's lives fell into disarray. Now eight years later, they're still almost rudderless.

'She had to learn, to live and fare' no doubt she did that, after such a shock to her world.

Very succinctly portrayed and yet replete with sadness.
