I finally cried

Sometimes it takes one a long path to find the hurt deep within

 

The pathway was long
Narrow and splintered
Yet I moved on
Tired, thirsty, hungry.

Yet I forged ahead
My feet moving steadily
My heart beating quicker with each step
My breath in short gasps now.

Just up ahead a short way
Was all I said
For I have come so far to see
To hear those words needed so desperately.

The splinters forgotten
The gaps no longer seen
That old rickety bridge no longer broken
For up ahead; was what I know now, was just a dream.

A dream I held so many nights
One that had haunted me for so long
Like an old record playing over and over
That same old heart-breaking song.

For no longer was the rickety bridge in one piece
For as I walked it started to slowly fade away
As I stepped on each board
It fell behind me.

Till when I looked back
There was only empty space
No bridge to look upon
No way back to the yesterdays.

And as I looked towards the road ahead
I felt fear
Deep within
My heart bare for the first time.

And I cried..


I finally cried.....

A beautiful work about moving on in your life and leaving the past behind, never to return. The final release being one of great fear. But the crying could be a symbol of relief of finally laying the burden of the past to rest. Your talented pen created a work that speaks volumes. This is a masterpiece of word art.

Just excellent in a desperate sense of moving forward and the final cry, I see this as maybe you never had the chance or could not bring yourself to really cry way back when. Great emotion in this piece.
