My Dying Mom

My Dying Mom

A Poem by Manda
"

Her daughter watches as she lays there in the hospital bed. She doesnt know how much longer she has... Life seems to be at its worse. She is losing everything she has...

"
I sit there watching her sleep
My mom laid in the hospital bed
Her skin was ghostly white
And there were all these wires going up and down her body
Nurses and Doctors would walk in and out of the room every five minutes
I never saw my mom so sick before
I began to cry
I couldn't take this pain
I couldn't stand watching her body slowly die away
For the last 8 months
I had stood by my mom's side
My mom has been in and out of the hospital so many times
We have been in the hospital so much
All the doctors and nurses know who we are now
Each time we visit they give my mom more medication
My mom is always so lifeless
Her body is so weak
She cant clean, work, or go shopping
I am only just 16
And I am losing my mom
I love my mom
And I try to help her as much as I can
Everyday I watch my mom struggle
My mom is a very strong women
But sometimes she cant take it
She simply gives up
She does all she can to keep on living
But nothing seems to help
Not even medication and surgery can fix this heart problem
My mom is dying
I don't know much longer I have left with her
I pray every night
And I ask God to keep her here just a little bit longer
I don't know how much more God can do
I sit here watching my mom as she lays in her hospital bed
The tears still falling...
And my mom still dying...
I am scared and alone
I am only just 16
Losing all hope
And my very best friend

Author's Note

Manda
I dont care about my spelling...I really dont care. My mom is dying each and everyday... I am scared and worried... I dont care if there is no flow. I just needed to get this out. I needed to vent and this was the only thing that seemed to maybe help me...

Your mother is dying and your only sixteen . . That's some hefty baggage to carry around. ): i'm sorry.
I felt myself getting pulled in with your words while reading this. It made me want to cry. I hope your mom gets better and if she doesn't then i wish you the very best. My mother is sick with Lupus, but that's nothing compared to what your going through.
May your love give your mother strength.

I'm truly sorry for your pain, and I wish your mother all the best. :)
This poem was really well-written, and the raw emotion of it just astounded me. You did an amazing job in expressing exactly how you felt, and allowing us to empathise along with you. Stay strong. :)

*hug*

I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers, you as well.

This is written well, the words flowing over the page as though pouring directly from a vein within you. You've a talent for hitting raw nerves when you write and this is no exception. I'd say it is wonderful work, but it is too sad for happy words. You've thrown it down on paper, but I do not think it will end there for you. Write it out and we'll be here to read it!

Woah...Deep, and without walls to hide a thing....on the other hand...I am so sorry.

Manda, I am so sorry about your mom. Ill keep her in my prayers. This poem is wonderful, and no worries about spelling or flow or anything, because it has flow, and it really puts the reader in your place. I read the poem in class and started to tear. I think you did a great job expressing yourself, and keep writing because it makes you feel better!

Amazingly you have produced a well written piece in the face of one of the most horrific struggles that the human spirit is even forced to endure. Just remember that all your friends here are pulling for both you and your mom.

Everyone needs to vent. It was a great expression and amazing poem just because it was from your heart. and i'm not just saying that.
