The Blind Mans Shoes

The Blind Mans Shoes

A Poem by Just Manoosh
"

For those who judge and for he that will be eaten by his own disillusioned vanity.

"

The Blind Mans Shoes

Take a walk with me,

Breathe new air with me,

Ask the blind man if you may borrow his shoes...

Embrace the truth my friend,

Feed your hungry stomach,

See life naked as it should be seen.

If you can not see a chiselled shell,

What do you see?

If you can not see rosebud lips,

What do you see?

Can you see the blackened heart?

Are you to die from the frost?

I pray you take a walk in the blind mans shoes…

In the darkest days he sees cherry blossom,

In the cold of night he is not alone,

Vanity holds no chains for him and from his eyes you can not hide.

Let him be your guide.

Just a few thoughts. Vanity is the ugliest trait, after all the outside is just packaging, the real gift is underneath those layers.

I was in a pub the other day enjoying a pint of real ale and looking at their wall of cut out guide dogs that the pub had helped fund with charity events. There were a lot of dogs and some were very beautiful. I considered how a blind person might 'see' their dog, or how I might describe the colours and look to them.

One thing on vanity, whilst your metaphor is very good, vanity is obviously not restricted to visual people - just look at David Blunkett. He seems an extraordinarily vain and pompous person at times.

This is such an awesome write containing a very mature idea and I agree it's very hard for us to know anyone until we walk in their shoes.

"Can you see the blackened heart?
Are you to die from the frost?
I pray you take a walk in the blind mans shoes"- I loved these lines a lot..

Great sense of symbolism and a very intense and deep piece.
Superb work!

Vanity , as Al Pacino said in ' The Devil's Advocate'.. ' ah vanity, it gets them every time' and this is true for so very many..
I like the way you took this poem .. walking in a blind man's shoes on anyone's .. this is what i feel we should do before we makes judgements ect.
This verse hurts to read, so sad..

Can you see the blackened heart?

Are you to die from the frost?

I pray you take a walk in the blind mans shoes

wonderfully written great message!

Yes, I agree; vanity is an trait.... taking a walk in the blind man's shoes... I've taken the time to walk without the help of my eyes; covered them so I had to rely on my other senses with the help of a cane. It is good to listen to the little sounds, it is good to slow down and breathe in the scents within the air when the air changes with the rain, then in the heat of day then again in the cool moonlit nights... good to sense as much as you can of what surrounds you, taking notice of the little things; when they are there and if not why have they vanished and will they return? awe, late night ponderings after reading and considering your poetic offering. Yes, we don't know someone until we walk in their shoes. Many are quick to judge. You are penalized no matter what you do today. lol. This is written very well!

What a moving piece. Another take on walking a mile in anothers shoes, with beautiful images of what one may see if they really look. Yes, the outside is merely a shell. The person on the inside comes out clear in their writing. What a beautiful person you must be to write such words from your heart. A wonderful piece indeed!

Not your usual exemplars.

The taking of the blind man's shoes seems aggressive, then sympathetic.

Interesting piece.
