Dream Flight With A Friend

Dream Flight With A Friend

A Poem by Mari-Sweet

While in a slumber movie,

I was in a building somewhere.

You were there and suddenly,

I was up in the air.

I took your hand so you could

fly with me. You were in the air

for a second when I felt you

pulling me down like a lead ball and chain.

You were grounded while I was still in the air,

holding your hand. “You’re too heavy.”

Sorry I had to let you go, sweetie.

I took off and looked back,

hoping I hadn’t hurt your feelings.

I was feeling guilty about what I said

when the movie suddenly switched scenes.

You were still with me somehow.

But someday I would like to

be in a slumber movie where

we get to hold hands and

soar off into the blue together

and into the sunset. We would

fly side by side and you would

be the chocolate in the sky.

The electricity in your hand

would stun me while we’re in flight.

Sweetie, you have no idea how much

this dream flight would mean to me.

I luv you.
