Indiscriminately acquired influences

Indiscriminately acquired influences

A Poem by Mark D

I tend to see things on an epic scale
Such stories as mine are not often heard
Critics may refer to the length of my tales
And their credibility!

"I crossed America barefoot and broke"
"I was a transvestite hooker with silicon tits"
"I said farewell to Lennon on the day that he died"
"I welcomed Christ into the new world"

How can I tell you this poison without apology?
An apology should explode out of the lies that I tell!

The truth would be less complicated
But I find it harder to tell

"I mutter words that people don't remember"
"I fester hatred, ignorance and fear"
"I was a boy who clutched onto my mothers leg and peeked out at the world"
"I put my soul on ice as things fell apart"

So I began to acquire my influences
Indiscriminately acquired influences
I opened my ears to new possibilities
And tried to become someone interesting

I like the many thoughts create by this entertaining poetry. You put a lot of open questions for the reader to think about. Some of the answers will be answered with life experience and death. I did like the ending to the outstanding poem.

Well, you have summed up the entire story of America pretty well. I loved it, it is like walking down Sunset in L.A. and running into every soapbox preacher, crazy, and tramp, and listening in on their thoughts.

This was very Rimbaud meets Baudelaire, I see a bit of both in you. The pictures really do make a difference well done Mark!

Wow! That was deep and wonderful.
My favourite line was:
I was a boy who clutched onto my mothers leg and peeked out at the world.
