Leafing Me

Leafing Me

A Poem by Dave

Leafing Me
You're leafing me and it's not fair
Your leaves, they're everywhere
I rake them put them in a bag
fill it up then to the curb I drag.
Spring and Summer pretty to see
In Fall colorful leaves come to me.
Oak and maple they look so fine
All my trees are lovely, but all pine.
Your leafing goes and covers my lawn
strong West wind and hope they're gone
It's not to be, rake in hand I go at last
to remove your leafing from my grass.

Excellent commentary poem on leaves Dave! My idea is to just mow them, no way I will rake them haha!

Many meaning to this poem. Last lines. So honest and true. Some thongs are difficult to be removed. Thank you Dave for sharing the amazing poetry.

Clever & fun & also with a dual-meaning. The first line is the kind that all poets wish they'd crafted. This is where I began my bifurcated thinking about your message: "leaving" vs. "leafing" . . . but moving on to practical matters, I'm reminded of Senator Rand Paul with broken ribs from a neighborly tackle!??! These leafy matters can become quite stickery in a hurry! I love your playful little rant about the leaf wars! *smile* Fondly, Margie

Oh, what fun! Love it. Wonderful play on Leaf and Leave. Those naughty thoughtless trees leaving all that leafing on your lawn!!!!

PS. I can't seem to be able to message you, so I will have to say it here. re your message to me ... I think those comments re Hurricane/Butterflies that you read on WCafe, were probably not made by me. I seem to have a double (a Troll?) who is writing comments in my name .. and upsetting people. But it ain't me! I think the best thing to do, is to do what you did .. message me and check it out. Incidentally what were those Hurricane/butterfly comment? I'd love to see them.
Take care ... looking forward to your next poem.

I remember the days of raking them up in piles, then jumping in them! Do kids do that anymore?

Wishing you a lovely autumn, Dave!
