A cry for help

A cry for help

A Poem by Mechelle
"

Sometimes the best help we can ever recieve is not form a person with a degree, rather a concerned friend. For they are the ones who truly know us best

This is a previous version of A cry for help.

she walks down the hallways.

a soul no one pays a second thought.

her eyes are glued to the floor.

every time a person bumped into her, she flinchs

pulls away.

No one knows what she hides.

Her right wrist stays close to side.

every glance reminds her of her awful night.

She tells no one of what she tried

she tries to focus but it is no use

her mind drifts back to last night.

the night she tried to end it all.

she remembers it all so well

The excuse.

The reteating to her room.

The crying.

The resolve.

The feel of cold steel against flesh.

The warm blood flollowing from the freshly opened skin.

For a moment she was in pure bliss.

reality is slow to sink in.

as the bell rings she has already planned to try again.

she gathers her books.

as she reaches for a note book, a friend's hand rest on it

she says not a word, just stares

her eyes travel to the wrapped up wrist

then to her friends eyes

her eyes reflect only the tears and heartache she sees in her friend

she fears she will tell

but recieves only a hug

and the words

"I'm here for you.

now and always.

Know that I love you"

They leave class together.

Arms around each others wasits

and tears down their faces

People ask what is wrong

they merely shake their heads.

two lost souls with only each other for support

face the world together.

knowing not what is ahead but knowing they have an open heart in the other
