Seasons Greetings!

Seasons Greetings!

A Poem by Me

Seasons Greetings!
The snow doesn't hide the pain inside
The cold does not freeze indifference.
Seasons Greetings!
To the men in the park and their bottles
and to the people sleeping in boxes.
"Alleluia" we shout in our feasting disguises
as we pray and pretend to love our crosses.
Seasons Greetings!
We proclaim to all and to none!
For our eyes are fast silent witness
to the indiscretions we often practice
as we hurtle ourselves at Christmas.
Seasons Greetings!
The signs on the wall do not disguise
the planks in our eyes as we condemn
Seasons Greetings!
Oh, how our voices are raised in song!
Oh, how our hearts are turned inward!

Yes, "Seasons Greetings", could be an obligated statement, with half-hearted wishes... In the fast paced time we live in, sometimes it's best to step back and evaluate what truly is the meaning of Christmas...When did Christmas become so commercial that we forget the value of it?

wow you absolutely described my view of the holidays and how people act nice and loving just because it's Christmas and they feel obliged to be nice and loving. Awesome write!

Man this poem is so powerful. The title completely unexpected,
it just reaches the depths of one's soul

Seasonal jubilation does not take away the desertion felt inside at times, this is a beautiful portrayal of such, wonderfully written xoxo
