Hurry, Hide!

Maybe somehow

You can outrun the light

Stick to the shadows 

Dark, Dank alley ways

Isn't it better that way?

You're home for the night

Being the bed of a man 

Who pays a few bucks 

To make you his toy

And nothing more

Is that really all you want?

Come, take my hand

I swear not to harm you

Let me clothe you,

You seem so cold

Let me feed you,

I have just enough

Haven't you ever wondered

What it is to be loved?

So what do you think then?

Shall we be friends?

Or will this be your life

Struggling, suffering 'till the bitter end

Come now, it'll be alright

Let me introduce you

To this warm, loving light

Wrote it as someone trying to help a girl that's fallen to her lowest that she's scared of good things happening to her. Lightly based on Fontine from Les Mis and my own tendency to cling to darkness at points. God has the glory <3

It's so strange how people (myself definitely included) so often cling to darkness despite God's constant offering of light. In my moments of avoiding God, I remind myself that it will be BETTER with Him, but that knowledge is still not enough sometimes. Thankfully we have a God who pursues us through dark alleyways and offers us a hand of friendship, as you beautifully described. :)

There is so much grace singing through your words... It reminded me of the verse in Matthew 25:31-46... feeding the hungry... satisfying the thirsty... Took me back to my years in the shadows...
