Daunting Memories

Daunting Memories

A Poem by Midnight_Mask
"

Hope is like the weather - cloudy at best, but grey is its best shade. =]

"

As I duel with my past tonight,

Misunderstood by those alike,

Presuming who I am from first sight.

No real knowledge of my past,

Stripped and branded by thoughts that last,

When all I am is a lost soul,

One word you say,

A whisper that draws questions:

‘Does he know?’

Tried so hard to extinguish the flames,

Of war, torture and blood lust pain.

To be re-awakened yet again,

The start of something that starts fresh,

How can I best it, if that was my best?

Daunting memories discovered by new people,

Bringing up those defeating times,

Scared anew.

But inside hope is a gentle sunny day,

Like the weather; It can never fade away.
