Sky Arrow

Sky Arrow

A Poem by M.E.Lyle
"

I went home and ate pumpkin pie.

"

Sky Arrow

I shot an arrow into the sky

It fell to earth, I know not why

It hit some farmer in his eye

He fell to earth and cried and cried

The ER nurse said in reply

Mr. you really should have died.

His wife let out a mournful sigh

I went home and ate some pie.

And told my mother the biggest lie

It wasn't me,” I said and said,

But Bobby Taylor, for sure, instead

He had a notion inside his head

Shoot the moon till it is dead.

My mother looks, her face is red

You think my mind is made of lead?

I saw you point that arrowhead

I saw the arrow as it fled.

She took my bow and arrow away

And sent me to my room to stay

I'm still here this very day

I'll be released the end of May.

M.E.Lyle,,
I love the first two lines similar to some old poem...You know I went through similar stuff as a kid. It was called 'getting into trouble.' Go to your room,' 'wait till your dad gets home,' not to mention 'the look.' I think the look was when I really knew that I was not getting away with anything. Hmmm... your poem was wonderful and I am sure not the only person who had a parent or parent who were paying attention to what their youngsters were up to.
Blessings,
Kathy
