I went to Australia and competed in the WBFF. My intention was to win the show and come home with my pro card. I did not win 1st. I did not place in the top 3, the top 5, or even the top 10.
To give it my all and come short was the most painful feeling I've ever had in my life.
I spent two weeks dealing with the pain by repressing it. By masking it with drugs and alcohol and partying for days straight with a care in the world.
Now it's time to take control and apply some of the lessons I learned in Australia. Those lessons include :
accountability is key. Having someone checking up on you that you are honest and integral with is essential. It keeps you on track and doesn't allow you any "wiggle room."
you can only do so much on your own. I've always been very stubborn and "I'm going to fix this myself no matter what it takes" and that caused me to sway away from having a personal trainer or a nutritionist when in reality their perspective will add to mine and allow me to bounce ideas off of each other which will allow my fitness to climb to new levels.
focus, focus, focus. Get clear about what you want and focus on it.
consistency over time equals success and happiness. When you perform the right action consistetnly over time, even if it is a small action, you will reap the rewards of success. Knowing what to do and when to do it and executing consistently over time brings success.
The challenge I've created for myself now, and am committed to taking on and absolutelty destroying is this. These tasks will be performed daily for 30 days straight.
10 minutes of Meditation
Daily meditation is going to help center myself instead of having my energy bouncing all over the place.
1 Hour of Yoga
Yoga is a great way to center myself and keep me focused on my body, getting in tune with my internals
1 Hour of Creative Writing
Set a timer and write creatively. Have Microsoft Word to browsing, reading, etc to inspire and create.
