Can't Stop

Can't Stop

A Poem by Morgan A Lynch
"

Wrote this one when i was overseas on the sandbox

"

The smell of gun powder in the air
The ground is shaking
The skies are black
We are standing in the sand
waiting , wondering, wishing
we are fighting
We don't stop for the picket signs
We keep going
We don't stop when the bullets fly
We just go faster, harder
Don't let the tears drop
Don't let the feeling escape

Don't sleep can't eat
just pick up our guns and go
The days are hot and the nights are long
We don't stop, we can't stop

Sitting in the mud with our boots on
We clean our guns
Not caring what people say we are
We just keep going

Drop, get down we are hit
you say to yourself get up shoot back
Can't but have to
They are kids we are kids

What have we done
What have we seen
Can't get it out
Have to go on
Can't stop
have to get back

I found my self in the trenches, flackend skies and shaking earth.
on my knees staying the corse, in the fight... Way to write Morgan!

Poem tell a powerful and sad story. I was in the first war in Iraq. We went in and won the war then left. This part two was hard. Sitting in a country where we are not wanted. Put us in a bad situation. A powerful poem. Time moved slow when you are ready to leave as soon as you get there. A outstanding poem.

this is nice..but this is old writing..and done while engaged in fighting..
but your words were told with much strong feelings
i could understand, for many times i was just like this
all muddy and dirty but you have to do it,have to go on..wish you had not
always feels like that ,smell of gun powder and like the earth would shake
skies black and angry and we wait wonder and wish that it was not like this
and we keep going harder and faster bullets came down like rain,no time fort tears
sleep and eat you cant, have to go on..and we are hit, kids fighting kids
God what have we done..what have we seen..still have to go on
though i would like to be there..but you told it so nicely
lovely write..

How can a simple review do justice to this poem ?

You have created perfection, it is everything I have
ever seen in the greatest literature.
The reader is there with you. You have captured
us.

This is the first piece I've read of yours, and I'm telling you.....it brought a tear to my eye. I can't imagine what it would be like..... I truly think that this type of sacrifice goes beyond appreciation.....

Continuing on because that's all you can do....'waiting, wondering, wishing'.... We do what we have to do in this llife, right, my friend?

I concur with Anthony....this is one of life's 'darkest' sides. The idea of my son going overseas makes my stomach hurt.... But 'you' are somebody's son, too....

This piece is life and it's biting reality.
